Eugene Lillie, Dexter

Eugene “Gene” Lillie, 74, died of a heart attack June 21, 1993. Funeral services were held June 24 at Early Chapel Christian Church with Pastor David Clark officiating.

Mr. Lillie was born March 13, 1919 at Marengo to Marquis and Ila (Burns) Lillie. He married Marguerite Kalbach on September 28, 1940. He was an A.I. Tech. and cattle farmer, serving many years as a 4-H leader and judge. He served two years in the Peace Corp. He was a member of the Early Chapel Christian Church and served as an elder.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Marguerite; five children, Loretta Vail of Atlanta, Ga., Ron of Grinnell, Kathy Nelson of Lenexa, Kan., Lee of Beaverton, Ore., and Randy of Earlham; a brother, Dean Lillie of Winterset; a sister, Betty Rayburn of Odessa, Texas; and 12 grandchildren.

Eugene Lillie, 74, of Earlham died of a heart attack Monday at home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Early Chapel Christian Church in Madison County and cremation will follow.

Mr. Lillie was born in Marengo and formerly lived in Greenfield. He was a cattle rancher and farmer and a member of the Christian Church.

Among survivors are his wife, Marguerite; two daughters, Loretta Vail of Atlanta and Kathy Nelson of Lenexa, Kan.; three sons, Leroy of Portland, Ore., Ronald of Grinnell and Randy of Earlham; a brother, Dean of Winterset; a sister, Betty Rayburn of Odessa, Texas; and 12 grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at McKee Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m.
