FUNERAL AT DESOTO FOR MRS. ORY, 71

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the DeSoto Methodist church for Mrs. Ward Ory, a long-time resident of this area.

Mrs. Ory died at her home in DeSoto on July 8. She was 71 years of age.

The daughter of Thomas an Alberta Cochran, she was born on a farm in Audubon county, Iowa, on Dec. 24, 1888. Before her marriage she taught school for a number of years near Earlham.

She was united in marriage to Ward Ory on March 18, 1915. She lived on a number of farms in Madison county over a period of 20 years. The remainder of her life was spent in Winterset and DeSoto, with the exception of four years spent in Osceola, Nebr.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Opal Smith of Earlham and a son, Marion Ory of Earlham; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, Dr. H. R. Cochran of Sheldon.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and a sister.

Officiating at the funeral service Monday was the Rev. Leonard Root. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

Services Held For Mrs. Ward Ory

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Hazel M. Ory at the De Soto Methodist church on Monday, July 11, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Leonard Root was in charge.

Casketbearers were Larry Ory, W. A. Ory, Jack Ory, Dennis Ory, Richard Ory and Ronald Smith.

Gordon Martens was soloist, pianist was Mrs. Elsie Riley. Mrs. Florence Cade and Mrs. Jim Shadiwy assisted with the flowers.

Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

Hazel Mae Cochran Ory, daughter of Thomas and Alberta Cochran was born on a farm in Audubon County on December 24, 1888 and passed from this life at her home in De Soto on July 8, 1960.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Ory taught school for a number of years near Earlham. On March 18, 1915 she was united in marriage to Ward Ory. To this union was born three children: a daughter, Mrs. Opal Smith of Earlham, and a son Marion Ory of Earlham, and one infant daughter who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ory lived on a number of farms in Madison County for twenty years. The remainder of her life she lived in Winterset and De Soto with the exception of four years spent in Osceola, Nebraska.

Mrs. Ory has been a lifetime member of the Methodist church and an active member in the De Soto WSCS.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, one daughter, one son, eight grandchildren and one great grandson, Timothy Smith. She will also be missed by one brother, Dr. H. R. Cochran of Sheldon and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter and her sister, Mrs. Bernice Spaulding.
