VIRGINIA DECKER, Lorimor

Virginia Carol Decker, 71, of Lorimor died of cancer May 26, 2002, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 29) at the Peru Cemetery with Dr. Bobby G. Dickerson officiating.

Virginia Decker was born Dec. 26, 1930, to George and Helen Fern (Souders) Jacobs of New Virginia. She married Gene Decker on June 6, 1948, in Peru. She had resided for most of her life in the Lorimor area. Virginia was a retired medical aide, having worked for Winterset Care Center North and West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation, also in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son.

She is survived by a son, Rodric Eugene Decker (wife Samantha) of Lorimor; two daughters, Carol Anne Pine (husband Duane) of Poteau, Okla., and Martha Elaine Gilleland (husband Randy) of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Walter Jacobs (companion Bonnie) and Orlo Jacobs (wife Kathy), both of St. Charles, and Glendal "Jake" Jacobs (wife Carol) and Russell Jacobs (wife Sue), both of Winterset; two sisters, Joanne Gibson (husband Mike) of St. Charles and Twyla Loury (husband Dennis) of Arispe; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
