Mary Ellen Beeson, 94, of Winterset died of heart failure July 25, 1999, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28, at the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham with Dr. Ray Martin officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.
Mary Ellen Beeson was born July 19, 1905, in Madison County to James and Idaletta (Mekemson) Spencer. She graduated from the Earlham High School in 1926. On June 8, 1933, she married Wilbur Beeson. They farmed near Pitzer, Barney and Earlham. She also worked for the Pitzer Telephone Company, Bentler Cafe, Earlham Veterinary Clinic, Earlham Dairy Sweet, as well as co-owned and operated the Beeson DX Service Station in Earlham. Mary was a member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, Earlham Easter Star Chapter 294.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Pauline Wilson of Aurora, Colo; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham.
