Eugene C. Marquardt, rural Van Meter

Services for Eugene Charles Marquardt, 69, rural Van Meter, who died at his home of a heart ailment April 3, were held Friday, April 5, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter with the Rev. E. A.Breiholz officiating. Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery.

Born on July 25, 1915 in Madison County, he was the son of Rufus and Leona Wishmier Marquardt. He was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Van Meter and a graduate of Van Meter High School.

On Feb. 27, 1939, he married Dorothy Baker at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mr. Marquardt farmed in the Van Meter area all his life and also had worked for the Eagle Iron Works, retiring in 1979 after 24 years with the company.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Yvonne and Larry Ory of Earlham, Richard and Jackie Marquardt of Winterset, James and Linda Marquardt and Judy and Clark Brittain of DeSoto; 12 grandchildren; a sister Hilda Golightly; and a brother Carroll, both of Van Meter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
