Dorothy Marquardt, Van Meter

Dorothy Marquardt, 71, died Thurs., May 9 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines. Funeral services were held Mon., May 13 at Trinity Lutheran church near Van Meter with burial in the church cemetery.

Born near Van Meter, August 1, 1919, she was the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Baker. She married Eugene Marquardt on February 27, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She lived most of her life in the DeSoto and Van Meter area and was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Ory of Earlham and Judy Brittain of DeSoto; two sons, Richard of Winterset and James of DeSoto; five sisters, Sarah Parkinson and Betty Baker, both of Denver, Colo., Lueta Baker of East Amherst, NY, Susie Thomas of Des Moines, and Madelyn Mathews of Fulton, Kan.; three brothers, Joe Baker of Clearwater, Fla., and Robert Baker and Curtis Baker, both of Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
