Eleanora Leona Johanna Marquardt, a native of Madison County, died Monday, Sept. 29, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset at the age of 91.
Born on Nov. 25, 1888, in Jefferson Township, she was the daughter of Charles and Henrietta Berneau Wishmier.
She was united in marriage to Rufus George Marquardt on Feb. 17, 1909. They farmed in Madison County until his death on Sept. 3, 1939, and since then she made her home with her sons and their families. Mrs. Marquardt was member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Van Meter.
Among the survivors are her daughter, Hilda Golightly, of Van Meter; two sons, Carrol of Van Meter and Eugene of DeSoto; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eveline Ziemann of Van Meter. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William, Otto, Henry and Julius; and two sisters, Mollie Clausenand Kate Jungman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter with Rev. E. A. Brieholz officiating.
Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery.
