Carl Marquardt Dies at 82 Years

Carl O. Marquardt, a life-long resident of Jefferson township, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the age of 82 years.

Mr. Marquardt was a son of Ferdinand and Augusta Dallman Marquardt and was born March 29, 1890, on the farm of his parents south of Van Meter, where Beryl Marquardt now lives. Later he purchased on of the Ferdinand Marquardt farms, where he spent his remaining years.

He was baptized in Trinity Lutheran church south of Van Meter on May 15, 1890, and confirmed April 16, 1905. He was married Dec. 28, 1925 to Doris Stump, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Lester, Gordon and Otis Marquardt. An infant daughter died at birth.

He also leaves five granddaughers. His three brothers and four sisters all preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 29, from the Fisher Funeral home in Van Meter, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Sparks, pastor of the Van Meter United Methodist church. Burial was made in the Van Meter cemetery.
