THELMA B. JACKSON, Winterset

Thelma B. Jackson, 87, of Winterset, died of a respiratory ailment Feb. 9, 1999, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor L. Duane Churchman officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Thelma Jackson was born Dec. 2, 1911, to Herb and Clara (Frederick) Garland of Adair County. She married Francis E. Jackson on Dec. 25, 1937, in Winterset. A homemaker, she was a resident of Madison County since 1921. Francis and Thelma built the Madison County Auction (now known as Madison County Sale Barn) in 1947 and held the first sale in October of that year. Thelma sold her interest in the sale barn in 1995. She was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
