Dale Solomon Hoffman, 91, of Winterset, Iowa, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.
Dale, the fifth son of Henry C. and Moreland Corderman Hoffman, was born May 24, 1906, in Pottawattamie County. After graduation from Red Oak High School in 1925, he stayed on the farm. On Sept. 26, 1936, he married Estelle Davidson at Stanwood, Iowa. Estelle died Feb. 26, 1960. Dale married Margaret Jackson of Winterset, Oct. 27, 1962. Together they ran Jackson Electric until retirement Feb. 1, 1976. Margaret died April, 1994.
Dale was a member of Center Ridge United Presbyterian Church located northwest of Red Oak and the Winterset Lions Club.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wives were five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are three stepdaughters, Suzanne (husband Lowell) Maxson of Coldwater, Mich., Lorean (husband Rodney) Hall of Sun City, Ariz., and Marla (husband Thomas) Nelson of Minnetonka, Minn.; seven step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. John Gaul officiating. Another funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Center Ridge United Presbyterian Church, which is located at Center Ridge Cemetery. Burial at Center Ridge Cemetery will follow the 2:30 p.m. service.
