Devotional services for Raymond Sorensen, 79, were held Sun. Dec. 2 at Collins Funeral Home, Winterset, with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Graveside services were held Monday at Oakwood Cemetery in Plymouth with the Rev. Steve Sorensen officiating. Raymond E. Sorensen died November 29, 1990, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Raymond Erwin Sorensen was born March 15, 1911 to Martinus Brahms and Emma Marian (Otzen) Sorensen in Clear Lake. He married Willa Scott Crane June 26, 1937 in Tama. A Winterset resident for the past 23 years, he previously lived in Creston, Grinnell, Des Moines and Plymouth. He was a University of Northern Iowa Graduate and a member of the UNI Alumni Organization. First United Methodist Church, Hereford Association and Waveland Park Masonic Lodge of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Willa of Winterset; sons Ray Erick Sorensen of Maryville, Mo. and Jon Hans Sorensen of Denver, Colo.; daughters, Karen Christine Snyder of Malibu, Cal., Sonja Carol Craig of St. Cloud, Minn. and Kristen Sue Sorensen of Lake Bluff, Ill.; sisters, Lenore Clifford of Mason City. Evelyn Hankner of Waverly and Royce Ellis of Shelby, NC; and nine grandchildren.
