Bill Parkins, 73, of Winterset died of a heart attack June 4, 2002 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday June, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Burial was at Jefferson Township Cemetery, Madison County.
Bill Parkins was born July 8, 1928 in Madison County to Pearl W. and Katherine (Shafer) Parkins. He married Marie Kerley on Dec. 2, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. A lifelong area resident of Madison County, Bill had been employed by the Madison County Secondary Roads Department for 39 years, retiring in 1992. He was member of the Winterset Saddle Club and Madison County Coon Hunters Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and a stepson.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Farlow (husband Gene) of Winterset and Karen Walker (husband Dave) of Des Moines; a son, Ralph "Steve" Parkins of Winterset; two brothers, Darrell Parkins (wife Jan) of Littleton, Colo., and Duane Parkins (wife Norma) of Des Moines; two sisters, Mary Klug (husband Keith) of Des Moines and Reva Reimann (husband Gerald) of DeSoto; a stepdaughter, Kathi Siebels of Urbandale; a stepson, Michael Siebels (wife Mary) of Parker, Colo; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
