Marie Parkins, Winterset

Marie Elizabeth Parkins, 74, of Winterset died Jan. 4, 2005 at her home.

Funeral services were held Monday Jan. 10, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Marie Parkins was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Brainerd, Minn. to Michael and Vida (Ziegler) Kerley. She wa a graduate of Brainerd High School. On Dec. 2, 1950, she married Bill Parkins. During her working career, Marie was employed by Look Magazine in Des Moines, as a waitress at Club Cafe and as an aide at several nursing homes-including Care Center North and Bethesda, both of Winterset and Fountain West in Des Moines.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Farlow of Winterset and Karen Walker of Des Moines; one son, Ralph "Steve" Parkins of Winterset; two sisters, Isabel Ludwig of Kenosha, Wis., and Lois Holland of Russellville, Ala.; a brother, James Kerley of Queen Creek, Ariz.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
