Memorial For Greenwood

James Merle Greenwood, 72, a retired farmer and former sale barn manager, died at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines on July 8, 1973.

Mr. Greenwood was born February 24, 1901 in Union township of Madison county, the son Ira and Amanda Cox Greenwood. He lived in Madison county forty years before moving to Des Moines, where he was employed as a security guard.

Mr. Greenwood was affiliated with the Knox United Presbyterian Church of Des Moines.

Surviving Mr. Greenwood are four children, James M. Greenwood Jr. of Winterset; Shirley (Mrs. Dale) Parkins of Urbandale, Iowa; Richard Greenwood of Truro; Charles Greenwood of Des Moines and sixteen grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ward Greenwood and Guiher Greenwood of Winteset, and three sisters, Grace Betts of Grimes, Iowa; Margaret Lee of Williamsburg, Iowa and Elizabeth Amiet of Tucson, Arizona.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset,with burial at North McDonald Cemetery in Madison county. The Rev. Keith Delap of Des Moines officiated.
