August 23, 1978G. I. Greenwood Dies In Des Moines
Guiher Ira Greenwood, 86, a resident of Winterset at 610 W. Fremont, died Thursday August 17, 1978, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines. He was born in Union township of Madison County on June 10, 1892, the son of Ira and Amanda Cox Greenwood.
Mr. Greenwood was occupied 31 years as an equipment operator with the Iowa Highway Commission. He was a veteran of World War I, serving as a sergeant in the U. S. Army. His marriage to Marie C. Farlow took place February 18, 1980 in Winterset. She survives her husband.
Mr. Greenwood was a member of American Legion Green Rogers Post 184 and Veterans of World War I, Barracks 1339.
Besides his wife, Marie, Mr. Greenwood is survived by two sons, Guiher Gene Greenwood of Stuart, Fla., John Greenwood of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Claude Amiet of Tucson, Ariz. and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services for Guiher I. Greenwood were conducted Monday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with burial at the Winterset Cemetery. Rev. Charles Updike officiated.
