LOUISE WELTY, Winterset

Alma Louise Welty, 79, of Winterset, died of a heart ailment July 20, 1997 in her home at Community Care of Winterset. Funeral services were July 22, 1997, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Elder Larry Pearl officiated and burial followed at the Winterset Cemetery.

She was born to Homer Albert and Florence Emma (Grewell) Frey on January 26, 1918 in Madison County. She was a 1935 graduate of Winterset High School, and on May 28, 1945 she married Lawrence Welty in Winterset. She was a retired Madison County and Peru teacher and a homemaker and also managed a County Home in Tipton where she was a resident prior to moving to Winterset in 1973. She did volunteer work during WW II and also worked with the 4-H Club of Cedar County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and one brother.

Surviving relatives include one sister-in-law, Ruth Frey of Winterset; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and one great-niece, all of Winterset.
