DEXTER-A funeral for Everett (Pete) Algreen, 94, of Earlham was held Jan. 6, 1994 at the Zion Lutheran Church at Dexter, with burial following at Dexter Cemetery. Mr. Algreen died of influenza on Jan. 4 at Earlham Care Center, where he had resided for six years.
The son of Peter and Lillie Moyer Algreen, he was born at Fontanelle on Dec. 28, 1899. He married Freda Jensen on March 25, 1925. She preceded him in death, and in November 1958, he married Lenore Buchanan. He moved to Earlham in 1944 after spending 30 years in Dexter. He was a retired farmer and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife, Freda, and by his second wife, Lenore; by two sisters; and by three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Hester of Earlham; a son, Billy Algreen; two brothers, Vern Algreen and Keith Algreen, both of Winterset; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church.

Dexter, IowaEverett “Pete” Algreen was born December 28, 1899 to Peter and Lillie Moyer Algreen of Fontanelle, Iowa.
Pete was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Dexter. He was raised on a farm and moved with his family from Fontanelle to a farm south of Dexter in 1914. The rest of his life he was engaged in farming in the Earlham and Dexter area.
Pete married Freda Jensen on March 5, 1925 and to this union two children were born, Billy and Helen. After Freda’s death he married Lenore Buchanan in November of 1958.
In earlier years he enjoyed his family and particularly the arrival of grandchildren. His love of horses and mules was obvious to all his family and friends. They will miss hearing his stories of the days when horses were used on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lenore in 1987, his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
His survivors include his son Billy and wife Sheila; daughter Helen Hester and husband Robert, all of Earlham; two brothers, Vern and Keith of Winterset; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Interment was in Dexter Cemetery.
