Sophie Radakovich, 85, of Lodi, Calif. Died July 8, 2003.
Graveside services were held July 15 at the Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
Sophie Radakovich was born Dec. 18, 1917, to Trivun and Pera Radakovich of Earlham. She graduated from Earlham High School in 1935 and attended Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing before moving to San Francisco, Calif., in 1939. She continued her nursing education there, obtaining her LVN license and working at the Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, Calif. Three children were the issue of her marriage in 1941. In later years, she moved to Lodi, Calif., where she married Ralph Ross and worked as a nurse at Lodi Community Hospital before retiring after 33 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Ross; three brothers, Milosh, Fred and Marko; two sisters, Mildred Johnson and Mary Benz; and a half-sister, Bessie Galovich.
She is survived by a daughter, Mardela Mahoney of San Bruno, Calif.; two sons, Nick Dragovich of Lodi, Calif., and Richard Dragovich of San Carlos, Calif,; two brothers, George of Winterset and Nick of Indianola; three sisters, Helen Riser of Winterset, Dorothy Davis of San Jose, Calif., and Anna Breen of Cottage Grove, Ore.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
