Ronald Louie Stuart, 74, of Winterset died Saturday Feb. 14, 1998, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from injuries sustained in a fall at home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Dr. Bobby G. Dickerson officiating. Interment was at Clark Cemetery.
Ronald Stuart was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Scott Township, Madison County, Iowa, to Lawrence Ralph and Ruth Esther Garst Stuart. He married Lois Smith Feb. 2, 1946, in Winterset. He was a life-time resident of Madison County, a retired farmer, and self-employed in partnership with Clarence Johnson. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines, having served in WW II. He was a Scoutmaster and involved in scouting for 14 years. He also was a trustee, deacon and youth leader for the First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and a nephew.
He is survived by his wife,; a son, Ralph of Perham, Minn.; a daughter, Virginia Stuart of Winterset; two stepbrothers, Neil Cook and Robert Cook; a brother-in-law, Wayne Smith; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset First Christian Church.
