DIED

GARRETSON-in Winterset, Thursday morning March 29th, 1877, at half past seven o'clock A.M. little Myrtle, daughter of G. W. and L. Garretson, aged 1 year and 11 months.

Her little fairy fingers
O'er my bosom softly crept;
A soft thrill ever lingers
There where her pure cheek slept.

Her eyes were bright and beautiful
As morning's clear blue sky;
Her voice as clear and musical
As the birds which slog on high.

Like lilies gleamed her snowy skin,
Like pure silk shown her hair;
Like pears her rose-bud lips within
Shown tiny teeth so fair.

So fair, so pure, our little gem,
That angels came to see;
And seeing bore her home with them
Their angel child to be.

And ever when cast down apart
In agony to weep,
There thrills within our stricken hearts
A thought that ne'er can sleep.

That cradled in a Saviour's arms,
From every sorrow free,
A little bright-winged seraph child
Waits lovingly for me.
-Anon.
