Darvin Lee Stover, 74, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Oct. 4, 2000 at Bon Secours-St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Rock County, Wisc.

Darvin Stover was born Jan. 4, 1926, to Faye L. and Mabel (Spencer) Stover of Fort Dodge. He moved to Winterset during his grade school years, graduating in 1944.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he married Margaret (Bonny) Harris on Jan. 24, 1948. He had taught and coached in public schools for 36 years, 27 of which were in the Milwaukee public school system. He also had been the athletic director at John Marshall High School in Milwaukee.

Dar was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion Poist 110, Deep Creek BPO Elks, Viona Masonic Lodge in Renwick, Iowa, Araba Shrine Temple and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley, both in Fort Myers, Fla., Charlotte County Shrine Club, Charlotte County Woodcarvers and Peace River Shrine Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a brother.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Jane Leske (husband Michael), Joann Stover and Linda Isnard (husband Robert); eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Shriner Children's Hospital, c/o ARABA Temple, 2010 Hanson Street, Fort Myers, Fla., 33901.

Arrangements were handled by the National Cremation Society in Port Charlotte.
