Greenwood Funeral Held

A lifetime resident of Madison County, Henry Ward Greenwood, 87, died at Madison County Memorial Hospital on Thursday August 4, 1977. Son of Ira and Amanda Cox Greenwood, he was born February 2, 1890, in Union Township.

A retired farmer, Mr. Greenwood was a member of I.O.O.F. for 25 years and was affiliated with the Methodist church.

On March 20, 1912, he married Maud E. Sackett in Greenfield, Iowa. She died November 7, 1937. In 1949, Mr. Greenwood married Genevieve Cleland in Winterset. She died January 16, 1973.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, John.

Survivors include two sons: Walter Greenwood of Auburn, Nebraska, and George Greenwood of Buckeye, Arizona; four daughters: Lela Martin of Patterson, Jeanette Forret of Waukee, Ruth Abele of Los Alimitos, California, and Wanda Parkins of Winterset.

Also surviving him are a brother, Guiher Greenwood of Winterset; sisters, Margaret Lee of Williamsburg, Iowa and Elizabeth Amiet of Tucson, Arizona; ten grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

Rev. Phil Hall officiated at services held Monday, August 8, at Collins Funeral Home and burial at Winterset Cemetery. Madison Lodge No. 136 provided the graveside services.
