Funeral services were held in Winterset Sunday for Robert E. Lee Campbell, a well known resident of this community for most of his life, who died last week in Pennsylvania at the home of his son, George Campbell. He was 85 years of age.
Mr. Campbell was a native of Virginia where he was born March 3, 1860, the son of Silas and Mary Catherine Ritchey Campbell. When he was 11 years old he came with his parents to Iowa. He lived on a farm until 1899, when he moved to Winterset and spent the remainder of his active life here as a carpenter.
He was married Aug. 1, 1897 to Emma E. Bullock of Ottumwa. They were the parents of one son, George.
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell left Winterset in 1939 to be near their son in Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife; the son and two grandchildren.
