Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 10 from Earlham Presbyterian Church for Franklin Ernest Junkin who died Tuesday, September 7, 1976, near his home in Penn Township at the age of 50.

Mr. Junkin was born June 23, 1926 in Penn Township of Madison County, the only son of Mac W. and Lucille Rose Junkin. He grew up on the farm where two generations of his family had lived and where he and his wife, Norma, married January 18, 1957, resided at the time of his death.

A 1944 graduate of Earlham schools, Mr. Junkin had operated the Earlham Locker for three years in addition to his activities in farming. He was a fourth generation member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church, joining that congregation September 28, 1938. He served the church as trustee, elder, Sunday school superintendent, teacher and youth sponsor.

Mr. Junkin was past Worshipful Master of Madison Lodge 568, A.F.A.M. and past Worthy Patron of Earlham Chapter 294, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; and children: Linda Humphreys, San Diego, California; Stephen, Satellite Beach, Florida; Jeanne, at home; Jim, Raymore, Missouri; Anne Eddy, Greenfield; and Patricia, Waterloo.

Also surviving are three sisters, Janice Whitney, Diablo, Canal Zone; Judith Binns, Davie, Florida; and Sheryl Bobst, Earlham; eight grandchildren also survive.

Rev. Steve Davis of Earlham Presbyterian officiated at Friday's services at 10:00 a.m. from the church. Burial was made at Earlham Cemetery with observance of Masonic graveside rites.

Obituary

Franklin Ernest Junkin, only son of Mac W. and Lucille Rose Junkin, was born in Penn Township June 25, 1926, and died very suddenly Sept. 7, 1976, at the age of 50 years. He grew up on the family farm where his father and grandfather had lived before him, and where he and his wife Norma, whom he married January 13, 1957, resided at the time of his death.

Frank attended the Earlham schools, graduating with the Class of 1944. In addition to his activities related to farming, he operated the Earlham Locker for three years.

On September 28, 1938, he became the fourth generation member of the Earlham Presbyterian church, where he served as trustee, elder, Sunday School superintendent and teacher and youth sponsor. He had been aa member of the church choir for many years. Always interested in community affairs and willing to help with them, he often sang with the groups and organizations.

Frank was a past Worshipful Master of Madison Lodge 568, A.F. & A.M., and a past Worthy Patron of Earlham Chapter 294, Order of Eastern Star, and had been very active in both organizations.

Surviving besides his widow Norma, are his children: Linda Humphreys, San Diego, California; Stephen, Satellite Beach, Florida; Jeanne, at home: Jim Raymore, Missouri; Anne Eddy, Greenfield; and Patricia, Waterloo.

Also his three sisters: Janice Whitney, Diablo, Canal Zone; Judith Binns, Davie, Florida; and Sheryl Bobst, Earlham; eight grandchildren, three nephews and three nieces.
