Mary Etta Snyder was born January 1, 1868, and went to heaven Christmas afternoon, 1928. Her birthplace was near Kalona, Washington county, Iowa. In 1876, when a girl of eight years, she was brought to Madison county by her parents.
She was married to Jacob Banker on December 1, 1886. God blest their home with seven children: Lonnie, a child who lived to be two and a half years old; an infant who lived but a few days; Orpha, (Mrs. Wallace Wight), Orie, Mina (Mrs. George Crawford), who went to heaven when 22 years of age, Ross and Mariam. Besides the husband and the four children, a devoted daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ross Banker, and two grandchildren, Betty Lou and Mina Jean, a son-in-law, W. W. Wight, three sisters, Mrs. Lon Banker of Winterset; Mrs. Will Gordon and Mrs. John Chambers of Valley Junction; two brothers, Luther Snyder, of Greenfield, and Marion Snyder of Stuart, and other relatives and friends are left bereaved.
Mrs. Banker confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the Pitzer church in 1891. She has been a humble and faithful follower of her Lord. Her character was beautified by her Lord richly, especially as a mother in her well ordered home. Her children rise up and call her blessed.
Funeral services were conducted from the home, Friday afternoon, December 28th, at one thirty o’clock by the Rev. W. C. Porter. Interment was in the Penn Center cemetery.
