Byron George Cooper, 70, died April 24, 1993, at his home. Funeral services were held April 27 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Burial was at McGinnis Cemetery near Patterson.
Mr. Cooper was born November 15, 1922, in Patterson to George and Mabel (Faux) Cooper. He married Mildred Armstrong January 29, 1972, in Omaha, Neb. He was retired from the Chicago, Northwestern and Rock Island Railroads and from farming. He was a lifetime resident of Winterset and was a member of the V.F.W. Post of Winterset and the Farm Bureau. He was a WW II U.S Army veteran and a member of the First Christian Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a stepson, and an infant brother and infant sister.
Surviving include his wife of Winterset; two stepsons, Gary Armstrong of Des Moines and Rick Armstrong of Winterset; a brother, Robert Cooper of Horton, Kan.; eight sister, Barbara Seymour of Des Moines, Shirley Freeman of St. Charles, Sharon Truelson of Indianola, Dorothy Hayes of Lindale, Texas, Pearl Cronk and Daisy Maxon, both of Des Moines, Zola Shelley of Easton, Ill., and Josephine Couch of Churchville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
