Ferne Cooper Died Friday

Mrs. Ferne Cooper of Winterset, a Madison county resident for most of her life, died Friday, Feb. 25, at her home here. She was 65 years of age.

Mrs. Cooper was the former L. Ferne Dudney,daughter of Jack and Myrtle Guthrie Dudney. She was born in Madison county April 17, 1906. She was married at Osceola on March 8, 1922 to Perry E. Cooper. His death occurred in 1967.

Mrs. Cooper had worked for the Clean Towel service in Winterset for 20 years, prior to her retirement in 1967. She was a member of Crown Rebekah lodge here since 1950, and was installed as vice grand of the lodge on Feb. 2, 1972. She was a member of the First United Methodist church of Winterset.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tony Hendrickson and Mrs. Dean Leslie, both of Winterset; a son, Edward Cooper of Polk City; and a step-son, Myles Cooper of Winterset. She also leaves 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Dudney of Des Moines, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Mitchell of New Virginia, Mrs. Grace Archer of Winterset, and Mrs. Pauline Jacobs of St. Marys.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First United Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with ritual at the grave-side by the Rebekah Lodge here.
