R. D. 'Don' Wilson, 78, of St. Charles, died of a heart ailment June 23, 1996 at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be today, June 26 at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Parish Church. The Rev. Ed Poston will officiate the services and burial will be at the St. Charles Cemetery.

He was born in Weldon on Jan. 31, 1918 to Albert Douglas and Merle (Wood) Wilson. He married Maxine Jones on March 20, 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a farmer and had moved to the St. Charles area in 1943. He was a member of the Model Lodge 315 at St. Charles; Model Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star in St. Charles; the St. Charles Lions Club; the Madison County Historical Society; and a member of the St. Charles Parish Church in St. Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving relatives include his wife of St. Charles; three daughters, Jean Jones and husband Tom of Garland, Texas, Jane Miller and husband Melvin of Altoona, and Jo Ordway and husband Jerry of Grimes; one son, Doug Wilson and wife Gwen of Shawano, Wis.; one brother, Marion Wilson and wife Evangeline of LeMoore, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
