Lloyd James Clague, son of Ralph and Lena Mae Anderson Clague, was born April 5, 1924, in Madison County and died December 1, 1981 at his farm home near Earlham at the age of 57.
He attended country school in Madison County and in 1941 graduated from Earlham High School where he was very active in sports.
On April 18, 1948, he was married to Irene M. Leeper, after which they made their home in Madison County, where they were engaged in farming.
Born to this union were three children: one daughter, Cheryl Thorson of Des Moines; and two sons, Gary Clague of Melcher and Tim Clague of Earlham.
He was very active in his home church, Early Chapel, where in his lifetime he held many offices and was presently serving as Elder and Church School Superintendant.
He enjoyed a lifetime of involvement in all community activities. For the past ten years, he drove a school bus for the Earlham Community Schools. He also drove the activity bus for other functions. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed his involvement with school personnel, bus drivers and students.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Ralph Clague. He is survived by his wife, Irene; their children, Cheryl and Bruce Thorson, Gary and Laurie Clague, Tim and Peggy Clague, and granddaughter, Teresa; two brothers, John Clague and wife Doris of Earlham, and Paul Clague and wife Lois of Estherville; two nephews, three nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
