EILEEN FRIDAY, Winterset

Eileen Friday, 88, died of cancer Nov. 30, 2001, at Winterset Care Center North.

Memorial graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 5) at Lorimor Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating.

Eileen Friday was born July 13, 1913, in Adair County to Ernest and Eve (Givan) Purdy. Following the death of her parents (when she was 7), she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Maude (Givan) and John C. Allen. On July 31, 1934, she married George F. Friday in Des Moines. Following their marriage, they resided in Lorimor. They later moved to to Toledo. Eileen was retired from the Tama State Bank where she had been a teller. Following retirement, she and her husband had spent several winters in McAllen, Texas. A resident of Winterset for the past five years, she was a member of the Winterset First United Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a step-sister.

She is survived by a stepsister, Ada Banks of Winterset, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
