John T. Clague, Earlham

John Thomas Clague, 81, of Earlham died from complications of emphysema Aug. 27, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Early Chapel Church of rural Earlham with Pastor Les Borsay officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

John Clague was born Dc. 28, 1918, to Ralph and Mae Clague of rural Madison County. In 1941 he married Francis Chance. He had been a truck driver, farmer and an assistant manager at the Farmers Co-op Elevator in Earlham from which he retired in 1982 after 23 years of service. In 1972, John married Doris Read. He was a member of the Early Chapel Christian Church where he held many offices.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a son, a grandson and a brother.

He is survived by two daughters, Joanne Clague Wetrich (husband Jim) of Des Moines and Nancy M. Gorham (husband Dewey) of Earlham; a son, Dennis E. Read (wife Heddy) of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Clague of Gatesville, Texas; a brother, Paul Clague (wife Lois) of Estherville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter and Earlham.
