Earl W. Clague, Winterset

Services for Earl W. Clague, 74, Winterset, who died March 19 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, March 22, at the First United United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence and the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born Oct. 22, 1913 near Earlham in Madison County, he was the son of Willis and Bernice Knox Clague. He was a retired heavy duty mechanic for the DOT garage in Ames.

Mr. Clague was married to Mary M. Spurgin on May 9, 1937 at Winterset. For the past 11 years, he lived in Winterset, coming from Ames, where he lived for 22 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lions Club International, and the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club, Inc.

Survivors include his mother and wife, both of Winterset; sons, Marvin of Vallejo, Calif., and Mary of Omaha, Neb.; daughters, Margo A. Mallgren of Cambridge, Iowa, and Marilyn D. Schilling of Huxley; a sister, Elsie B. Sawyers of Winterset; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials can be made to the church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
