John McLees of Lincoln township, dropped dead shortly before noon on Sunday at his home three miles southwest of Winterset.

While he and Mrs. McLees were engaged in conversation, he arose from the chair to cross the room and fell. Death was instantaneous. He had been ailing of late, but few outside of his family were aware of it, and the announcement of his death on Sunday was a profound shock to the people of this community.

He was universally respected as a man of up right dealing and good citizenship. He had lived in this county since boyhood and was widely known among farmers and stockmen.

Funeral services were held at the home yesterday, and burial made in the Winterset cemetery.
