Fred Grant Neisemier, 75, of Winterset died May 26, 2001, of a heart ailment at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, May 30) at 10:30 a.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery with Masonic services performed by Evening Star Lodge 43 and military services performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, all of Winterset.
Fred Neisemier was born June 14, 1925, to Chris Lawrence and Georgia Bernadine (Carnes) Neisemier of Thayer. He graduated from Thayer High School in 1942. A Navy veteran of World War II, he married Gertrude Jean Dodd on Aug. 2, 1946, in Creston.
Fred was a retired barber, having worked at the North Side Barber Shop in Winterset. He also was a retired farmer. He had resided in Winterset for the past 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Masons, Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, of Winterset; a son, Marlin Neisemier (wife Sherry) of Creston; a daughter, Connie Welch (husband Ronnie) of Winterset; two brothers, Clarence Neisemier (wife Edithanne) of Thayer and Lester Neisemier of Lexington, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Pauline Neisemier of Murray; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
