Bernice Clague, Winterset

Services for Bernice Clague, 99, Winterset, who died May 8 at her daughter's home in Winterset, will be held Fri. May 11 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence and Zona Lautt officiating. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on June 7, 1890, she was the daughter of Joseph and Susan Taylor Knox. She was married to Willis Clague on June 7, 1911 at her parent's home.

A homemaker Mrs. Clague moved to Winterset in 1945 coming from the Worthington community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in all church organizations, especially at Worthington. She was known for the beautiful flowers she grew each year.

Survivors include a daughter, Elsie B. Sawyers of Winterset; a brother, Granville Knox of Fallbrook, Calif.; sisters, Anice Brown of Winterset, Edith Nelson of San Jose, Calif.; and Jessie Ruth of Fallbrook, Calif.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, three brothers and two sisters.
