MRS. GRACE BOYCE Is Found Dead

Mrs. Marcus Boyce, a resident of Douglas township for 62 years, died at her there Monday night April 20, 1953.

Mrs. Boyce, who was 82 years of age, had fallen into a ditch near her farm home sometime Monday night, and was not discovered until late Tuesday morning. Her body was found by her son, Dan Boyce, who lives nearby, after an exended search for her. County Coroner Paul Eggleston was called to the scene. After making an investigation, he reported the death as accidental. He said she had died from exhaustion and exposure.

Mrs. Boyce was the former Grace F. Smith. She was born near Osceola on January 23, 1871, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Smith. In 1882 she came with her parents to Winterset and lived here until her marriage, Sept. 2, 1890, to Marcus J. Boyce. He preceded her in death. She had lived at her farm home in Douglas township since 1891.

She had been a member of the First Baptist church in Winterset since early life.

She leaves eight children, Earnest Boyce of Ann Arbor, Mich., Joe Boyce of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Floyd Thomas of near Winterset, Mrs. R. P. Stringham of Lawrence, Kan., Mrs. F. B. Bunnell of Cedar Falls, Hugh Boyce of Lawrence, Kan., Dan Boyce of Douglas townships, and Mrs. James A. Hills of Sacramento, Calif. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Walter Cecil, pastor of the First Baptist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
