Funeral services for Jessie Lucille Young, 93, Earlham were held Wed., Sept. 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham.

Born April 3, 1897, Jessie was the daughter of George and Minnie Proctor Frederick of Webster. She died September 16 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Jessie Young was a longtime Earlham area resident and was active in numerous organizations including congregate meal service and the Sunshine Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Young and her son Raymond Young.

Survivors include two sister, Maude Smith of Phoenix, Ariz. and Gertrude Dalen of Earlham.

Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Jessie L. Young

EARLHAM-A funeral for Jessie L. Young, 93, of Earlham was held Sept 19, 1990 at the First Presbyterian Church here. Mrs. Young died of a heart attack on Sept. 16 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital at Winterset. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

The daughter of George Brainard and Minnie Proctor Frederick, she was born at Webster in Madison County on April 3, 1897. She married William B. Young on Dec. 4, 1916. She lived on a farm near Winterset until 1966, when she moved to Earlham. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church and Sunshine Garden Club at Winterset, and transferred her church membership to the First Presbyterian Church when she moved to Earlham. While a resident of Earlham, she was also a member of the Earlham Garden Club and the Friendly Circle Club. She did volunteer work with the Earlham congregate meals program.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, by a son, by four brothers and by three sisters.

Survivors include two sisters, Maud Smith of Phoenix, Ariz. And Gertrude Dalen of Earlham.

Jessie Lucile Young, the daughter of George Brainard and Minnie Proctor Frederick, was born April 3, 1897 at Webster, Iowa in Madison county. She passed away September 16, 1990 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.

Jessie attended school in Madison county and Dexter, Iowa.

On December 4, 1916 she was united in marriage with William B. Young. To this union was born one son, Raymond, who passed away in 1942. Jessie spent all of her married life on a farm west of Winterset. After her husband passed away in 1954 Jessie lived on the farm until she moved to the Pioneer Apartments in Earlham in 1966.

She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church and the Sunshine Garden Club for many years. After moving to Earlham she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church and also joined the Earlham Garden Club and the Friendly Circle Club.

Jessie helped with the congregate meals for seven years and enjoyed it very much. She met many new friends in Earlham.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son, four brothers and three sisters. Her survivors include two sisters, Maud Smith of Phoenix, Arizona and Gertrude Dalen of Earlham, Iowa.

Funeral services were held September 19, 1990 at the First Presbyterian Church, Earlham, Iowa with Reverend Stewart Brooks officiating. Organ music was provided by Cecil Van Houten. Pallbearers were Edwin Smith, William, Hunter, Vernon Geiger, Orie Jones, Loyal Werts and Graham Godby. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Iowa.
