HAROLD FREY, Earlham

Harold Arthur Frey, 75, of Earlham died July 9, 2005, at his home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, at the Earlham Church of Christ with Steve Allison officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery with military rites performed by Earlham American Legion Post 158.

Harold Frey was born Aug. 17, 1929, to Harry and Marcia (Cook) Frey on his parents' farm south of Earlham. He was a 1948 graduate of Earlham High School and a United States Army veteran, serving from June 1951 to May 1953, during which time he was in Korea from January 1952 to May 1953. On May 10, 1953, he married Louise Gonseth.

Harold was a life-long Madison County farmer and John Deere man. He also worked at the Marquette quarry and drove a truck for Dusty Rhodes for many years. For the past four years, he participated in the WHO Radio Great Iowa Tractor Ride, driving his 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee across Iowa. He was a member of the Church of Christ and American Legion Post 158, both of Earlham, and the Winter-Sets Square Dance Club.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Evelyn.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Earlham; one daughter, Linda Smith of Earlham; one son, Michael Frey of Earlham; two sisters, Phyllis Werts of Winterset and Carolyn Anker of Earlham and six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.

Harold A. Frey, 75, died very suddenly at his home near Earlham on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Earlham Church of Christ with burial at the Earlham Cemetery with military rites.

Harold was a life-long farmer in the Earlham area. He was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ, Veteran of the Korean War, member of the Earlham American Legion Post #158, the Winter-sets Square Dance Club and the Couples Bridge Club.

Harold is survived by his wife, Louise of Earlham; daughter, Linda Smith and husband Jim of Earlham; son, Mike and wife Penny of Earlham; sister, Phyllis Werts and husband Loyal of Winterset; sister, Carolyn Anker and husband Bud; grandchildren, Ben Applegate and wife Angie of Urbandale, Andy Smith of Earlham, Harrison and Parker Frey of Earlham, Angi Allison and husband Randy of Earlham, Matt Smith of Clive; and great-grandson, Cael Allison of Earlham.

Visitation will be held at the Kuhn Funeral Home Monday July 11, 2005 from 2 to 8 p.m. where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to his church.
