Mina Burgan, Winterset

Mina Burgan, 90, of Winterset, died of a heart attack Oct. 19, 1996 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services are today, Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The Rev. Bill Branson will officiate and burial will be at the East Union Cemetery in Clarke County.

She was born in Clarke County on Feb. 7, 1906 to George and Phebe Marinda (Moore) Thurman. She married Ralph Burgan of Feb. 2, 1927 in Madison County. She was a housewife and had lived in Winterset for the past 17 years, coming from Clarke County. She was a member of the Church of God in Lorimor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include her husband; three sons, Donald Burgan and wife Helen, Virgil Burgan and wife Mary, all of Des Moines, and Gerald Burgan of Glenwood; one daughter, Iola Seekins and husband Arden of Jonesboro, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
