MRS. LOU NELSON WAS NATIVE OF KENTUCKY

Mrs. Sarah Lou Nelson, whose death occurred at a nursing home here Dec. 7, was a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She was the former Sarah Alcorn, and was born there Feb. 26, 1868, a daughter of Albert and Myrtilla Alcorn. Her early life was spent in that community.

She was married Feb. 21, 1891, to Francis M. Patton of Louisville. They moved to a farm near Litchfield, Nebraska, to establish their home. With the exception of a year in Mt. In 1912 she was married to Madison Nelson of Des Moines. His death occurred in 1928.

Mrs. Nelson was a life-long member of the Christian church. In Nebraska, she was affiliated with Eastern Star. She had been a member of the Winterset Christian church for 52 years, and was in the Women’s society and Loyal Workers Sunday school class.

She had been (an) invalid since receiving a fractured hip in a fall five years ago.

She is survived by four children, Mrs. Bertha Bailey of Winterset, Mrs. Charlie Cameron of Afton, Mrs. Arthur Cameron of Leon, and Ray Patton of Winterset; a niece, Mrs. Willis Bailey of Winterset; twenty-four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Joe Alcorn of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Mrs. Ora Ragan, who died in 1922, and Mrs. Dola Ragan, whose death occurred in 1958.
