C. E. DEETS DIED HERE THURSDAY

Former Earlham Banker Was 89 Years of Age at His Death

Charles E. Deets, former president of the Earlham Savings bank, died the evening of Christmas day, Dec. 25, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 89 years of age.

Mr. Deets was a native of Warren county, where he was born March 22, 1869, a son of Frank and Lovila Horr Deets. He was married Feb. 22, 1893, to Laura Buchanan. He brought his family to Madison county in 1910. He was first associated with the elevator at Earlham, then became a bookkeeper in the Earlham bank, later serving as president.

His wife preceded him in death in 1934. He leaves three children, Mrs. Robert Griffith of Winterset, Homer Deets of Earlham and Worth Deets of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Weed. Burial was made in Scotch Ridge cemetery in Warren county.
