JoAnn Morris, Adel

JoAnn Baylor Morris, 80, of Adel died of heart failure Nov. 23, 2003, in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 26) at the Earlham Methodist Church with the Rev. Lisa Locoh officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

JoAnn Morris was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Anita to Lafayette and Hulda Emma (Cass) Morrison. She was raised around Casey, graduating from there in 1943. On Dec. 21, 1942, she married Charles W. Baylor in Maryville, Mo. Mr. Baylor was killed in World War II. She later married Vern Wilber Morris on July 11, 1945, in Troy, Kan. JoAnn and Vern spent most of their married life in Earlham. Her remaining years were spent at the Adel Retirement Center.

She was precede in death by her parents; both husbands; a grandson; a sister, Francis Coffman; and a brother, Robert L. Morrison.

She is survived by a son, Robert Morris of DeSoto; two daughters, Enola Gay Morris Jenkins of Adel and Karen Sue Morris Morey of Clarinda; a sister, Betty Clayton of Adel; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
