Russell Piatt, Earlham

Russell Wayne Piatt, 46, of Earlham died July 8, 2003, at home.

Memorial services were held Sunday, July 13, at Calvary Assembly of God in Dexter with the Rev. Richard Kaiser officiating. A private burial of the cremains was held later.

Russ Piatt was born July 13, 1956, in Iowa City. He was adopted in November of 1956 by Marlin and Phyllis Piatt and grew up on a farm west of Dexter. He attended school at Dexfield, grauated from eight grade at Rose Lane School in Arizona and later received his GED. Russ worked in construction and was a master plumber for the Motel 6 chain in the southwest until 1984, when he was disabled in a auto accident. He later took a course in gunsmithing and returned to the family farm in Iowa. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dexter and Brotherhood of the Third Wheel (director of the state of Iowa). He also attended Calvary Assembly of God in Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his fiancee, Ann Dodson; his mother, Phyllis Piatt of Milbank, S.D.; and two sisters, Teresa Pinkert of Big Stone City, S.D., and Susan Ball of Ames.
