HERMAN ADOLPH WENCK, Winterset

Funeral services for Herman Adolph Wenck, 79, were held Thurs., April 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osceola, with the Rev. Jay Wheeler officiating. Herman died April 2, 1991 at Veterans Medical Center, Des Moines.

The son of Otto and Emma (Fricke) Wenke, he was born January 11, 1912 near Lidderdale and attended school in Carroll County. He married Mildred Strunk August 14, 1942 in Fairmont, Minn. He and Mildred moved to a farm near Peru in 1958 and in 1986 they retired and moved to Winterset. He was a World War II veteran serving with the United States Army, 4th division, 8th infantry regiment, and a member of DAV and Immanuel Lutheran Church of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Surviving relatives include his wife of Winterset; two daughters, Ellen Bruett and husband, Darrell, of Patterson and Madelyn Kerns and husband, Russell, of Winterset; two sons, Randy Wenck and wife, Mary, of Prole and Lanny Wenck of Winterset; two sisters, Alma Bruggeman of Carroll and Dorothy Albers of Sac City; a brother, Paul Wenck of Winterset; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside rites were performed at Winterset Cemetery by V.F.W. Post #8142 of Winterset.
