Graveside services for Mrs. Janice Kuhns, 46, of Pleasanton, Calif., were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, 1979, at the Winterset Cemetery with Rev. David Livingston of the First Christian Church officiating.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 2, at the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton, of which she was a member. Mrs. Kuhns died Tuesday, May 29 at Ross General Hospital in Ross, Calif., after a long illness with cancer.
Born on May 11, 1933, she was the daughter of Dale and Lucille Clark Hanson. A 1950 graduate of the Winterset High School, she was married to Lester Kuhns on June 3,1951, in Greeley, Colo.
She received her teaching certificate from Simpson College and earned her B.A. degree from the University of California. Earlier this year she was awarded her Master's degree, also from the University of California. Mrs. Kuhns taught school for over 20 years at Newton, Wichita, Kan. and at an elementary school in Pleasanton where she was principal for the past two years. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega social sorority.
She was preceded in death by her father. Surviving are her husband, Lester; two daughters, Joni and Jayne, both of Pleasanton; her mother, Mrs. Lucille Hanson of Winterset, and a sister, Sharon Hewitt of Hacienda Heights, Calif.
