Bernice Pauline Gray, 92, of Winterset died of multiple organ system failure Dec. 31, 2002, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery, South Township, Madison County.
Bernice Gray was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Adair County to Irwin and Olive (Moon) Campfield. On Dec. 4, 1927 she married James Thomas Gray in Patterson. In 1954, she moved to Des Moines, where she resided until moving to Winterset in 1970. Bernice was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset and the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Elsie Huff.
She is survived by two sons, Bernard Gray of St. Charles and Jack Gray of Bella Vista, Ark.; a daughter, Thelma Bailey of Bella Vista, Ark.; three sisters, Myrtle Diers of Fontanelle and Gladys Mitchell and Bertha Anderson, both of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
