JOHN E. KLINGMAN Died Thursday

John E. Klingman of Winterset, a well-known citizen of this community and a life-long resident of Madison County, died Thursday, November 23, 1972, at LaGrange, Illinois. His death occurred at the home of his son, Donn Klingman, where he was spending the Thanksgiving holiday.

Mr. Klingman was 68 years of age at his death. He was a native of Douglas Township where he was born April 17, 1904, a son of Frank B. and Ella Evans Klingman. He engaged in farming for many years, served as a rural mail carrier here and worked for International Harvester. He also was employed by Madison County and had served on various county and city boards and commissions in recent years.

He was a past worthy master of the Masonic lodge and a past worthy patron of the Eastern Star lodge in Winterset. He was an elder in the First Christian Church of Winterset.

Mr. Klingman was married August 28, 1927 to Josephine Kirby of Winterset, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Donn Klingman of LaGrange, Illinois; and four grandchildren, Vicki, Patti, Kathi and Bill Klingman of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, and a sister, Marie Peterson.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First Christian Church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
