Claude Monagon, Winterset

Services for Claude Monagon, 94, Winterset, who died Nov. 29 at the Bethesda Care Center, were held Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Klapp of Ankeny officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born at Goodland, Kan., on June 17, 1895, he was the son of John and Mary McClintock. A farmer, he was married to Grace M. Wigton at Linden on April 2, 1919.

Mr. Monagon was a resident of Madison County and Winterset the past 60 years. He was a member of the Zion Federated Church and a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include daughters, Lois Nichols of DeSoto and Marion Hood of Winterset; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, a daughter, a brother and a sister.
