Emery Shearer, Macksburg

Services for Emery Shearer, 84, Macksburg, who died April 26, at the Madison County Hospital, were held Tuesday, April 29, at the Macksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.

Born Jan. 20, 1902 at Macksburg, he was the son of Elijah and Emma Shaw Shearer.

Mr. Shearer was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Macksburg. He was a 50-year member of the Fern Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Fern; daughters, Doris Bailey and husband George of Winterset, and Vivian Smith and husband Verle of Waukee; a son, Dean Shearer and wife Myrna of Carrollton, Texas; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six step-children, several step-grandchildren.

His first marriage, Lolah Goodridge, was in April of 1925 in Lorimor. She died in 1953. He married Fern Moore in March 13, 1955 at Macksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and an infant son.
