Alice Maxine Kingery, 86, died of a heart ailment Oct. 1, 1998, at Winterset Care Center North.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Don Frank officiating. Burial was in Lorimor Cemetery.
Maxine Kingery was born March 22, 1912, in Madison County to Lawrence and Cecil (Allen) Osborn. She married Eugene Howard Kingery on Jan. 29, 1930, in Winterset. A lifetime Madison County resident, she was a homemaker. She was recognized in 1991 for the Governor's Volunteer Award and was presented the Citizen of the Year Award in 1994 by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce. Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Women, Hannah Circle, J.D. Craven Woman's Relief Corps, Rebekah Lodge and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. She also was a former member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, three infant daughters and two brothers.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Richard Kingery (wife Merle) of Winterset; a sister-in-law, Catherine Croft, also of Winterset; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Macksburg United Methodist Church or the Winterset First United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
